Not a good photo as the narrow streets and parked cars got in my way. Neither was it the photo I wanted to post as "my contrast" yet, every time I walk past it, the different in building shape, height, color, always makes me smile.

There is no way on earth you can say this is not a good photo... it's honestly great.... and it makes me smile a lot too!! Those buildings are just so different.... there are contrasts are so many levels like you say, i love it. Just what is that tall building? it looks like a light house or something?! I'm glad you posted this anyway.

It is a lighthouse on the tallest part of Portland so apparently you can get quite a view from the top. It was turned into a museum and an observatory.

I am so used to churches being the tallest buildings around because of their spires but this lighthouse really dwarfs the church.
